BOOK WEEK:
Book week was a huge success. We had a dress up day where the students were able to parade around the school and show off their costumes. We got up on stage and showed the school what we were wearing. After we got to watch the Wakakirri performance. We read many books throughout the week that were shortlisted. We also had Year 2 activity rotations with the other classes. In our class we made cat masks based on the book 'Come Down, Cat'. In Mrs Barr's class the students made paper vikings based on 'The Last Viking' book. With Malia the students made rising daffodils which were based on 'That's Not a Daffodil' book. We also watched a perfomance about books, and got to go to the Book Fair which had a huge showcase of books for us to look at and buy.
Show and Tell:
Students always have such interesting stories to share with the class. Sometimes they even bring in some interesting items. Here are a few...

Storybird:
The newest craze. Storybird is a website where students are able to create their own stories online. They add pictures, create the story and share it to the class. The students LOVE this website, and the best bit is that you can see your stories on any computer, all you need to do is log on. I have set up the students with passwords/usernames, and these are written in their diaries and spelling pre-test books. To share their stories with others, students need to publish their work to the class library - see below.
